  • TKM sells nearly 5600 units in June 2005, setting an all time record in sales in a month.
  • Monthly cumulative sales increase by 36% over June 2004
  • Toyota Innova attracts MPV and passenger car buyers with total sales of 4633 units in June 2005, accounting for around 43% of total MPV sales
  • Innova sold 48% more in June '05 compared to Qualis in the corresponding period last year.
  • Toyota Corolla records sales of 901 units, leading the C Sedan Segment

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) continued its leadership run in the market lead by strong sales performance registered by Toyota Innova and Corolla. Cumulative sales of Toyota vehicles in June 2005 currently stand at 5600 units, a staggering 36% increase over corresponding period last year.

This sterling performance is led by India's first 3-row seating passenger car on Indian roads, Toyota Innova. Toyota Innova has received overwhelming response from customers as a result of which it has registered the Highest Ever Sale by any Brand both in premium car and MPV segment. Toyota Innova has sold 4633 units in June 2005, which is higher by 48% compared to the Qualis in the corresponding period last year. Toyota Qualis sold 3112 units in June 2004. Toyota Innova sales account for around 43% of the total MPV vehicles sold in June 2005, garnering the support of a large number of customers from the passenger car market as well.

Mr. Atsushi Toyoshima, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "The launch of Toyota Innova has attracted MPV buyer as well as the Sedan buyers. Our success has been a result of listening to customer needs and meeting expectations. Sales of Toyota Innova is an affirmation of our belief that the Indian auto industry is rapidly maturing and ready for global products."

Toyota Corolla has further consolidated its position in the Executive Segment and continues to lead the segment. Corolla has registered total sales of 901 units in June 2005.

"Toyota Corolla, India's largest selling car in the Executive Segment continues to be a bestseller in its segment with sales of 901 units in a very competitive market situation. We have sold around 5,000 Corollas in the last six months, this year," added Mr. Toyoshima.

Toyota Camry and Prado registered sales of 59 and 7 units respectively in June 2005.

TKM is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and the Kirloskar Group. TKM has invested nearly Rs. 1,500 crores in its plant at Bidadi, employing over 2,300 people. The plant started production in December 1999 and has a capacity of producing 60,000 units annually.
