Toyota conducted 'ICARE', an employee voluntary initiative

Bangalore, 23rd December 2017: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today conducted its second activity under ‘ICARE’, an employee voluntary initiative to drive eco awareness in Bangalore city. Staying true to the company’s key social values of sustained community development and creating environmental consciousness, the drive which actively involved its employees aimed to enhance the understanding on the increasing environmental challenges & call for priority actions to counter the alarming & deteriorating eco-scenario, through series of interactive programs in the city.

This is Toyota’s second employee volunteerism initiative under ICARE, focusing on environment theme. Under this activity, the employees will present a stage play at Garuda Mall to create environment awareness among the general public on current environmental issues such as Lake Restoration, Afforestation & Solid Waste Management. Toyota & its employees hopes to bring smiles on the face of underprivileged children by painting the walls of the 140 year old government school. The school is located at Ashok Nagar, Bengaluru [located closer to Garuda Mall]. We will be celebrating the joy of giving back to the society & sharing happiness by handing over the newly painted school to the children this New Year.

As a project to promote proactive involvement of employee in the fields of community engagement, education and environment, “ICARE” was inaugurated in November this year with the launch of Mobile Medical Unit [MMU] and specialized health camps conducted in Ramanagara district.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Naveen Soni, Vice President - Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “All our CSR are focused on collaborative, creative, sustainable and scalable projects. Likewise project “ICARE” is well guided by Toyota’s deeply rooted beliefs of sharing its success and best practices with the society. With the employee engagement, the ultimate motive is to achieve long-term sustainability which is our CSR core. Such activities come a long way in educating & sensitizing the community that each small action initiated by one & all, does make a big difference towards creating a smarter, safer & friendly society.

It is delighting to note the success of our pilot initiative on community development executed under “ICARE” program in Ramanagara last month with the involvement of our employees voluntarily. We were able to connect well with people from the surrounding villages. Such impactful results is ultimate motivator to further amplify our CSR efforts to cover a wider spectrum, reach out to more communities and inspire others to work for the betterment of the society.”

As a responsible corporate citizen, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is constantly working towards the development of people, communities, and the earth at large.
