Kolkata, 01st December 2022: Toyota Kirloskar Motor [TKM] today announced the launch of 58th T-TEP institute at The George Telegraph Training Institute, Kolkata with support of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Automotive Skill Development Corporation (ASDC). The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the student’s skill sets with special focus on rural areas, thereby strengthening their employability through the company’s unique training initiative namely Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP).

The inauguration event was graced by Mr. Amit Manaktala, Dealer Principal, Topsel Toyota, Mr. Amrik Saini, Dealer Principal, Saini Toyota in the presence Mr. Aninda Dutta, Director Operations, The George Telegraph Training Institute, Kolkata, and executives from ASDC & TKM.

Aimed at generating talented and technically skilled professionals for the automobile industry, T-TEP strongly contributes to India’s “Skill India” mission. With T-TEP, thus far, TKM is associated with 58 ITIs/Polytechnic Institutes covering 22 states across the country. Currently, more than 12,000 students have been trained and 70% of the students are working in various automobile company dealerships in the country.

On this occasion, Mr. Arindam Lahiri, CEO, ASDC, said, “Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s initiative, in collaboration with The George Telegraph Training Institute, Kolkata will have a big impact towards developing highly skilled, employable, and future ready youths. These efforts of collaboration by industry partners like Toyota which are aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission will support in bridging the existing skills gap and help develop world-class workforce in state of Kolkata.”

Expressing his views, Mr. Amit Manaktala, Dealer Principal, Topsel Toyota said, “Toyota is known for its exceptional quality products and services, which stems from developing world-class people, processes, and necessary infrastructure. We are continuously growing and adapting to the changing needs and dynamics of auto industry and T-TEP initiatives is an important step in this direction to further enhance skill development and provide opportunities for youth “

Expressing his views, Mr. Amrik Saini, Dealer Principal, Saini Toyota, said, “Automotive industry is growing tremendously and since 2006 T-TEP has become a benchmark by adopting exceptional training modules, thereby benefitting the automotive service industry and society at large. Through the T-TEP initiative, we develop talented youths by equipping them with world-class training on advanced technologies . In this direction, our collaboration with The George Telegraph Training Institute, Kolkata will strengthen the talent pool from the grass root level with special focus on rural areas. ”

Talking about this partnership, Mr. Aninda Dutta, Director Operations, said “ With advancements in technology in the auto industry and unprecedent growth in motorization, we need to ensure that the consumers receive the best-in-class services, especially in rural areas. To align with this requirement, we will be need highly skilled technicians, making it imperative that students at technical training centers have access to advanced technologies and gain hands-on training experience. With this collaboration, students at The George Telegraph Training Institute, Kolkata will get an opportunity to understand Toyota’s values, best practices, and advanced technologies which will benefit not only the students but also the entire industry, thereby contribute toward the Skill India Mission.”

As a part of this initiative, Toyota will support the institute with latest curriculum covering automobile fundamentals, safety, Toyota values and basic soft skills. The company along with its dealer partner have invested over Rs 1.5 million towards infrastructure, e-learning contents, engines, transmissions, practice kits and train the institute’s faculty through its unique Train-The-Trainer approach. In addition, TKM’s dealer partners – Topel Toyota and Saini Toyota will also support by providing On-Job-Training to these students. The George Telegraph Training Institute, Kolkata will effectively adopt this program via T-TEP syllabus and enable the students to undergo the on-the-job training.
