- Aims to bolster holistic growth of women candidates hailing from rural Karnataka, with a focus on skill development and empowerment
Bangalore, 14th September 2023: In its constant endeavour to support ‘Skill India’, Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) is proud to announce the commencement of its “Toyota Kaushalya Program” admissions for the year 2023 for women. This initiative, in collaboration with the Director General of Training (DGT), is set to offer young underprivileged women in Karnataka a unique opportunity to excel in the automotive sector.
TKM’s “Kaushalya Program” focuses on admitting students from rural Karnataka to cultivate a pool of skilled industry-ready technicians. Earlier in the month of June’23, admissions for the male students were announced thus providing training to academically oriented students from economically challenged backgrounds in Karnataka where the cost of their education is to be borne by TKM. At present the program has nurtured 8 % girl students so far and aims to include 30% girl students by the end of 2025.
Mr. G. Shankara, Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resource Officer, TKM, expressing his thoughts, said “TTTI has clearly played a crucial role in skilling students from economically challenged backgrounds and promoting gender diversity in the field for over a decade now. By creating world-class technicians, the Institute has not only impacted the surrounding communities but also contributed to the broader national initiative of 'Skill India’. Until now close to 1000 students have excelled in their skill sets and gained knowledge of international standards which is required for the growth of the auto industry. Their success is a testament to the institute's dedication and commitment to empowering individuals and fostering excellence in the field of technical education.
Admission of young women in the Toyota Kaushalya Program is one step towards achieving gender equality. This comes at a time when the industry is increasingly seeking to nurture young minds both young men and women candidates by imparting relevant training and building value for the future. We strongly believe that the program will give enough impetus to widen the talent pool and build a fresh pipeline of women professionals by grooming them early for societal development and contribution to the State and nation at large.”
Aimed at providing world-class technical training to young women and empowering them with the skills and knowledge required to become proficient technicians, the program offers specialized courses in Automotive Weld Technician, Automotive Paint Technician, Automotive Assembly Technician, and Mechatronics Technician. The holistic specialized training and education not only promotes gender equality but also enhances the employability of women in the State of Karnataka whilst aligning with the company’s broader goal of equipping India's workforce with the necessary skills to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
