TKM has carried out afforestation under the advisory of
Late Dr. Akira Miyawaki (Concept of establishing Potential Natural Vegetation utilizing native species).
Around 3.2 lakh saplings of more than 650 native species are planted inside our campus. This native
forest helps in creating a safe habitat for local birds & butterflies and many other faunas. Through
our plantations, we could sequester 4700 tons of CO2 emissions.
As part of our water and environment conservation
efforts, we adopted Abbanakuppe lake with the objective of protecting natural resources. We are running
this project with the help of the local community to ensure its sustainability. Through this
interaction, we encourage the community to take ownership of the lake so they can have a secure supply
of safe drinking water for years to come. This project benefits 5 villages and over 8,000 people in
the surrounding area.
